At the age of eighteen, Edward started his hairdressing career in his hometown of Leeds, whilst working in a small salon, he quickly realised that his future lay with the creative talent at Sassoon. Edward joined Sassoon in 1992 as a ‘’Varderer’’ (Sassoon’s 6 month retraining programme) and quickly completed the intense training programme to become a fully qualified Technician in the Leeds salon where Edward established a loyal clientele rapidly rising through the ranks.
Edward’s commitment and dedication, combined with an ambition to travel has propelled his career forward at remarkable speed. His flair for demonstrating made him a natural choice to continue his fourteen year career teaching at the Advanced Academy in London and has also seen him on show stages from Manchester to Shanghai and everywhere in between. As UK Colour Director, Edward is involved in educating and developing the next generation of Sassoon Colour Directors at the UK Salons & Academies, whilst maintaining the high Sassoon standards set by his predecessors. ‘‘What I love about Sassoon is the camaraderie of the team, and their combined understanding that ‘it’s more than just hairdressing’ - I’m honored to be filling the shoes of those who have gone before me’’ says Edward. | Edward is a regular member of the shows team who travel all over the world presenting shows, seminars and workshops, as well as working very closely alongside Mark Hayes, International Creative Director to develop the key trends for the Sassoon seasonal Academy, Salon and Studio collections. "Edward is an amazing communicator and an inspirational teacher, an experienced member of the show team who is constantly in demand all over the world’’ says Mark Hayes, International Creative Director.
He finds inspiration in the things closest to him: the people he sees on the streets, the clients he meets daily, and most particularly in his colleagues at Sassoon and the haircuts he applies colour to. “To balance the shape of a cut with creative colour is really rewarding.” says Edward. With his special ability to deliver information in a down to earth way and outstanding creative talent, Edward is recognised as one of the most popular teachers at Sassoon. This new role of UK Colour Director will see him further developing himself and the future colour team. |
