The Postgraduate Course is unique in design, innovative in content and specifically created to meet the needs of students with strong classic skills; however, they have the need for additional learning time. You will immerse yourself in the breakthrough abc and contemporary work of Sassoon while grasping a strong sense of modern hair techniques. It even offers you the chance to learn our world renowned and highly sought after teaching techniques. The formal learning structure encompasses all the elements necessary to give you that important boost needed to make your mark in hairdressing. The course is divided into four in-depth levels of instruction, levels 1-3 comprise six weeks each and the final level, comprising 7 weeks including all of the prep time necessary to get ready for the final photo shoot.
You will receive personal guidance and mentoring from the world renowned Sassoon teaching team throughout all levels of the course. A personal appraisal will be conducted every 6 weeks to ensure that you are achieving the learning goals required by Sassoon standards.
The finale to your course will be comprised of one week on the Sassoon Academy course plus you will participate in a photoshoot where we will guide you on theme, clothes styling, make-up, mood boards and lighting, everything you will need to know, to arrange your own photo shoot.
LEVEL ONE (WEEKS 1-6)
This level will introduce you to abc | Cutting Hair the Sassoon Way and abc | Colouring Hair the Sassoon Way. Also included in this level is:
- Sassoon History & Philosophy
- Technical theory
- Sassoon Professional product day
- Head shape and bone structure
- Conduct a successful client consultation
- Excellent client care
- Finishing with products
- Men's haircutting
- History of men's hair
- A guided tour of the Victoria & Albert fashion department
- Practical assessment
- Personal appraisal
LEVEL TWO (WEEKS 7-12)
Sassoon contemporary classic cutting and colouring will be introduced during this level alongside further exploration of the abc cutting and colouring techniques and men's hair cutting:
- Job shadowing a Sassoon salon creative director
- Continuing abc cutting and colouring knowledge
- Introducing Disconnection cutting techniques
- Contemporary classic techniques
- Practical assessment
- Personal appraisal

LEVEL THREE (WEEKS 13-18)
This level will focus on being able to deliver the skills you have learnt in cutting and colouring hair within a time frame. The world renowned Sassoon teaching methods will be delivered.

LEVEL FOUR (WEEKS 19-24)
The final 7 weeks will employ all of the skills you have learned, plus you will get the opportunity to attend the advanced academy course for one week

The entire course is presented in a collaborative and coaching spirit ensuring that you feel supported and encouraged throughout. On successful completion of this course you will be presented with a Sassoon graded Diploma.
Student Profile
You will need to have basic haircutting skills and a hunger for more tuition in all aspects of hairdressing up to a very advanced level.
