44 WEEK | BEGINNERS COSMETOLOGY COURSE

At the Sassoon Cosmetology School, we prepare you for a career in the real world. For this reason, hands on learning with male and female clients are a key part of the curriculum. This includes consultation, cut and color, finish and product recommendation. The knowledge that you gain from this will go far beyond what you learn from textbooks and working with mannequins. SECTION ONE

• Learning styling techniques that include roller setting, tonging, flat ironing, fingerwaves and pincurls, and how to combine these skills

• Manicure including nail structure, cutting/filing, mending, hand massage and product application
• Make-up and facials
• State board exam preparation

SECTION TWO

• Perfecting shampooing, head massage, blow drying and finishing with product
• Professional product training
• Understanding head shape and bone structure
• Learning how to conduct a full client consultation
• Exploring the intricacies of client care

Classic precision cutting skills are quickly introduced and include:

• One length haircuts
• Classic line techniques
• Classic layering

SECTION THREE

In this stage, students are introduced to the fundamentals of color and given time to perfect the Vidal Sassoon classic haircutting skills before moving on to more advanced techniques.

• Continuation of one length haircuts
• Layering
• Graduation
• Exploration of a variety of lengths
• Understanding color formulas
• Understanding color charts
• Classic color application

SECTION FOUR

Students will learn further classic cutting and coloring techniques and be introduced to the basics of perming and highlighting.

• Round and square layering
• Contemporary shapes
• Round graduation
• Classic perm techniques
• Highlighting and foil work
• Freehand color

SECTION FIVE

In this stage greater emphasis is given to working with clients and producing a strong, clean finish. Students will master the fundamentals of contemporary cutting techniques.

• Contemporary scissor over comb technique
• Using clippers as a finishing technique
• Contemporary coloring techniques
• Building and retaining a clientele
• Customer care and service
