THE INTRODUCTION

Surrealism subverts the ordinary, bridging the gap between imagination and reality. Artists interact, moving between the secret world of the unconscious and the everyday creating an alternative, expansive terrain in which dreams unravel.

This season’s collection – UMBRA - takes inspiration from the technical mastery of artist Salvador Dali and photographers Man Ray, Horst and George Platt-Lynes who combined highly skilled technique with a vivid imagination to create a new Surrealist beauty.

The Sassoon take on surrealism presents an innovative combination of colour and cut applied with mastery of technique.

This is Sassoon. This is Hair Design.

BEHIND THE SCENES

The UMBRA collection illustrates the infinite possibilities of the Sassoon Chromatology range and how Intensitones can be used to create subtle as well as dramatic tones in colour. Colours are placed with mathematical precision yet diffuse elegantly through the shape blending dark tones to light and back again.

Classic Sassoon balances are given unexpected twists; triangular sections trail over the edge of a precise box bob distorting its outline; rounded shapes are cut in one-length lines with double fringes adding unusual texture to the perimeter.

THE TEAM

Sassoon is unique in that we have an international creative melting pot of talent to draw upon for our inspiration. We travel the world for our work - from Australia to Japan; Italy to Russia - training, giving shows and meeting people. Combined with our salon talent, this means that we have a fantastically rich resource for identifying and predicting trends. Sassoon has a long history of collaborating and taking influence from architecture and the visual arts - right from the days of Vidal and the Bauhaus. Today, all forms of creative expression influence our approach to Hair Design.

The International Creative Team is Sassoon's driving force and primary asset, helping to maintain its status as a respected and innovative industry leader. Its role is multi-dimensional: collating, interpreting and filtering ideas to and from the Creative Directors in Sassoon Salons, Schools and Academies all around the globe; heading up training to inspire and elevate standards of the industry and working on shows internationally.
